Supportive Care Worker

A Supportive Care Worker provides compassionate, person-centered care to clients in their homes or care facilities. This role focuses on assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting independence, and enhancing overall quality of life. The Supportive Care Worker serves as a vital source of emotional, physical, and social support while respecting the dignity and preferences of each individual.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and light exercise routines.
  • Prepare and serve meals, following dietary requirements if needed.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support through conversation and engagement in activities.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, vacuuming, and tidying living spaces.
  • Administer medication reminders (as directed by care plans).
  • Accompany clients to appointments, errands, or social outings if needed.
  • Monitor and report changes in client health, behavior, or environment to the Care Coordinator.
  • Follow personalized care plans to meet individual client needs and preferences.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold client dignity at all times.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in caregiving (e.g., Personal Support Worker, Home Health Aide) is preferred but not always required
  • Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is an asset.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow care plans and work independently.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (if required for the role).
  • Background check and references required.

Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Physical ability to assist with lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Travel to client homes or care facilities may be required.
